JULY 21, 2025 | Fellow Shareholders,
Now that the Wattbike acquisition has closed, it’s time for our investors to get a better understanding of the business, assets and value-creation potential that’s now part of the TRNR portfolio. This blog is the first of a series of posts that will help shareholders learn more about where Wattbike has been – and where we’re all going next.
A Huge Opportunity
Over more than a decade, Wattbike has built a reputation as the training tool trusted by the world’s top athletes, teams, and military programs. From NBA courts and NFL training camps to Olympic cycling arenas and Navy SEAL facilities, Wattbike has proven itself in environments where only the best equipment earns a place.
But that elite validation is only part of the story. Wattbike first made a major push into the health and fitness market in 2012 and now supplies around 3,500 gyms across the UK, making it the largest B2B segment of our global business. In 2017, we launched our first smart bike, the Wattbike Atom, designed specifically for home cyclists. More recently, we’ve evolved the product line to appeal to a broader, more committed home fitness audience – expanding beyond a cycling‑specialist focus and into a versatile solution for homes, hotels, health clubs, physical therapy facilities, and schools around the world.
For TRNR and our shareholders, that means we’re not just maintaining a legacy of elite performance; we’re unlocking a broad commercial opportunity that can scale into everyday fitness markets globally.
“Trusted by the Best” – Worldwide
TRNR shareholders should understand that this larger opportunity rests on a carefully-cultivated market advantage that no other mainstream indoor cycling bike has.
Wattbike is recognized worldwide as an indispensable tool across nearly every corner of elite sport. When we say Wattbike is trusted by the best, it’s not just marketing language.
It’s economic and customer credibility that reflects years of integration into environments where training precision, performance data, and athletic results are non‑negotiable.
Strength and conditioning coaches and performance staff have woven Wattbike into their daily programs because its metrics and reliability consistently meet the demands of professionals operating at the highest level.
This is a cross-sport, cross-league and cross-team phenomenon. While Wattbike’s elite-usage overall is frankly too broad and deep to capture in an easy-to-digest post, we’ve summarized below professional sports organizations that should be familiar to TRNR’s investors, which rely on Wattbike products.
The extent of the list might surprise you – and it’s this credibility and trust that underpins the larger marketing and sales opportunity, long term.
Pro teams that rely on Wattbike technology and data to enhance performance include:
- NBA
- NFL
- NHL
- Formula One
- MLS (Major League Soccer)
- UFC
- U.S. BMX National Team
- Team USA (Olympic Cycling)
- USTA (United States Tennis Association)
NBA
The NBA demands year‑round conditioning to sustain performance across an 82‑game season and deep playoff runs. The Golden State Warriors remain one of the league’s most storied franchises, led by Stephen Curry, still performing at an elite level in his late 30s.
With young players joining the roster, ensuring every athlete can handle the pace and physical demands is critical. Wattbike delivers explosive, low‑impact conditioning sessions that help players recover faster and maintain peak output without unnecessary strain on their joints.
Today, Wattbike is trusted by around 90% of teams across the league, a testament to its impact on high‑performance basketball training. Wattbike’s relationship with the Warriors dates back to 2021, when the team first integrated Wattbike into its in‑facility and travel‑day training programs, helping maintain their championship standard over multiple seasons.
NFL
Cardiovascular capacity and VO₂ max are now essential metrics in the NFL, where athletes must repeatedly produce explosive power while sustaining recovery between plays. Wattbike allows players to train those systems in a controlled environment, measuring power output and fatigue levels to ensure optimal readiness and reduce injury risk.
Today, about 60% of NFL teams incorporate Wattbike into their programs, a testament to its role in shaping modern football conditioning. Wattbike’s relationship with NFL teams dates back to 2019, when half the league was already using Wattbike for training, recovery, and performance testing during off‑season programs—an early adoption that has only deepened as demands on players have intensified.
NHL
At the NHL level, maintaining high aerobic and anaerobic capacity can determine how well a player handles repeated high‑intensity shifts.
The NHL Scouting Combine uses Wattbike to run VO₂ Max and Wingate tests, giving teams a data‑driven profile of each prospect’s endurance, power, and recovery.
Wattbike’s involvement in the NHL Combine has been building for years, culminating in the 2025 Combine, where it supported testing for all 32 teams and over 90 top prospects, further cementing its role in elite hockey performance.
Formula One
Formula One drivers need world‑class cardiovascular fitness to handle the extreme demands of race weekends while maintaining focus at over 200 mph.
Lando Norris, one of F1’s biggest stars, has become known globally, including in the U.S., for his consistent podiums and fan‑favorite personality. Wattbike offers drivers a way to train their endurance and power output in a controlled setting that mirrors race‑pace intensity.
Wattbike’s work with Lando Norris dates back many years; in 2024, his training with Wattbike was credited with supporting his first Grand Prix win, showing how Wattbike fits seamlessly into high‑pressure, high‑performance environments.
Inter Miami CF
In modern soccer, players are required to maintain top speed and intensity deep into matches, even during congested fixture periods.
Inter Miami CF made global headlines by signing Lionel Messi in 2023, bringing one of the greatest players of all time to Major League Soccer. That same year, the club won the Leagues Cup, securing the first major trophy in its history. Inter Miami CF integrates Wattbike into off‑feet conditioning programs, building cardio fitness and explosive power without additional strain on joints, helping players recover between games.
Wattbike’s relationship with Inter Miami CF dates back to a 2023 profile, where their strength and conditioning staff highlighted the bike’s role in recovery sessions and personalized fitness work to keep athletes performing at their peak through long seasons.
UFC
MMA fighters need both anaerobic explosiveness and the aerobic capacity to sustain high‑intensity rounds. Wattbike enables fight camps to monitor power, cadence, and recovery to replicate the energy demands of the Octagon in a controlled, data‑driven environment.
Wattbike has been a fixture in UFC training programs since 2020, when fighters began incorporating Wattbike sessions into their prep blocks, balancing strength training, sparring, and conditioning to ensure they entered fights in peak condition.
Wattbike also featured UFC’s Brad “Quake” Riddell, as seen in the picture to the left, in a profile showcasing his use of Wattbike for aerobic conditioning and VO₂ max testing at the UFC Performance Institute. He credits Wattbike with improving his fight‑camp readiness and helping him push through the most demanding phases of his training.
US BMX National Team
BMX demands quick starts, short sprints, and maximum power over technical courses. Wattbike gives riders a way to measure and develop those bursts of output while tracking progress over time.
Wattbike has been part of the U.S. BMX National Team’s training approach since 2022, when Kamren Larsen’s, seen in picture above, championship season showcased how Wattbike’s precision metrics shaped interval training and recovery strategies that translated directly to race‑day performance.
Team USA (Olympic Cycling)
Originally developed in 2008 for Team GB, Wattbike played a key role in helping British cyclists prepare, contributing to Team GB’s remarkable success at the 2012 London Olympics. Olympic cycling programs rely on indoor tools that can replicate race intensity while allowing for precise data tracking. Wattbike provides exactly that, helping riders fine‑tune power, cadence, and recovery strategies to peak at the right time.
Wattbike became a core part of Team USA Cycling’s program in 2024, when coaches highlighted Wattbike as essential for training and warm‑up routines leading into the Paris Olympics, demonstrating a long‑standing integration into their medal‑winning formula.
USTA (United States Tennis Association)
Top‑level tennis requires repeated explosive sprints and rapid recovery between points. USTA facilities use Wattbike to build that capacity without the wear and tear of constant court time, enabling athletes to track performance data and simulate match conditions.
USTA has integrated Wattbike into its off‑court testing and conditioning programs beginning in 2021, supporting players across demanding tour schedules from that point forward.
Final Thoughts
From NBA champions and Formula One drivers to UFC fighters and Olympic cyclists, Wattbike has earned its place as the trusted training tool in environments where only the best equipment is used. That foundation of credibility is what makes its expansion beyond elite sport into hotels, health clubs, schools, and homes such a powerful opportunity for TRNR and its shareholders.
